TRANSLATION RESOURCES

BNSF Railway maintains a Spanish-English/English-Spanish dictionary of railway terms that is gaining increasing acceptance among the railways of this continent. It is compiled by Frank P. Hernández, BNSF's Director of Transportation (U.S.-Mexico Operations), and is updated approximately every two weeks. You can download the latest version from BNSF. It is in Excel spreadsheet format. If you do not have Excel, get the free Excel Viewer from Microsoft®. On the spreadsheet, click the tabs at the lower left to switch between "Español-Inglés" and "English-Spanish."

MEXLIST member Peter J. C. Horn maintains a similar dictionary, based on a version of the BNSF dictionary, that also includes terms of interest to the broader community of railway enthusiasts and historians. You can download it from MEXLIST. It is also in Excel spreadsheet format as described above.
